How Advocating for Your Worth Can Transform Your Career
I just had coffee with a good friend who reminded me that after her sister worked with me, she doubled her salary in her next job.
This is why I do what I do.
So that women can step into their strengths and unique value and command the salaries and job titles that they have already earned.
This message is especially important around Black Women's Equal Pay Day, which was July 9. This date symbolizes how far into the year Black women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year.
Yes, we do have to change the system.
And, at the same time, we can advocate for ourselves, get paid for our worth, and blaze a trail for our daughters.
Why is this so important?
A $10,000 raise could be worth over $500,000 in career earnings over 30 years, when adjusted for inflation. A $5,000 raise for your first salary could also result in more than $600,000 in lifetime earnings.
We aren't just talking about a raise. We are talking about quality of life, the ability to retire, and growing wealth.
If you don't feel highly valued (yes, it matters how you feel - remember Barbie told us we can hold logic and emotion at the same time) I'd love to talk with you.
