Successfully Pivoting Careers: Networking and Communication Tips
Have you ever pivoted careers? 🕺
It's not easy, right?
➡ When I pivoted back to higher ed student affairs after nonprofit work, I was successful because of 2 things:
1️⃣ A colleague who vouched for me with my new boss, and
2️⃣ The ability to make connections between my nonprofit work and what needed to be done in student affairs.
➡ I have always been able to 'make the case' for myself - I've been offered *almost* every job I've ever interviewed for - and that's a huge reason why I started helping family, friends, and eventually clients with their careers.
I can position you for that pivot, so that it takes less time, is less frustrating, and so that you have a choice of opportunities.
So, what's most important when you want to make a big career change?
1️⃣ Your network actively vouching for you, sharing that you can bring impact to the new role, and willing to connect you with people in that space.
2️⃣ Your ability to communicate how your strengths and experience connect to the new role.
I love helping people make career changes that make them happier, excited for a new challenge, and refreshed.
