Networking and Job Search Tips: Make Your Emails Stand Out

New Networking/Job Search Guidance Tips 👇

I attended an email workshop with Samantha McKenna Friday and took 2 pages of notes - it felt like being in college again, with an amazing professor! 🎓

While Sam's workshop focuses on getting the attention of potential clients, her tips are also incredibly valuable for networking in general and the job search.

Here are some of my biggest takeaways that also work for networking, I'd love to know what you think.

(And, PS, Sam offers these workshops often so follow her and join one when you can!)

- Don't send a follow-up email early on Monday (no one wants to see this early Monday) 😆

- Don't use a Calendly link in your first outreach email - it puts the onus on the other person. Ask for their availability and use their calendar. 🗓️

- Follow up quickly. (I say this too!) Whether it's with a job or a potential client or just catching up with a colleague, don't leave it for days, respond quickly so that person knows they're a priority. 🏃

- Your subject line and preview text matter - this is what gets people to open an email - don't use 'I hope you're doing well' - jump into your connection with that person, why you're reaching out related to them (smykm), or something fun. 🎉

Networking and job searching often overlap, and these tips can help you stand out and build better connections.
