LinkedIn Profile Hack: Boost Your Visibility by Ensuring Company Icons Show Up

A LinkedIn tip for today: it really does help to make sure that the icons for your current and previous employers are showing up on on your profile. Why? Because it connects you officially to that employer, giving you more chances to be found by fellow colleagues, networkers and recruiters. It also legitimizes your experience sections here. Here are the steps:

1. Scroll down to that section of your profile and click the editing pencil.

2. In the Employer Name section, remove what you have currently.

3. Start typing the name of the company, and see what auto-populates. If it was a long time ago, you may need to Google the company to see how they're listed on LinkedIn.

4. Select the auto-populated title, save, and close.

BONUS: Make sure if you have sequential titles at the same employer (promotions) that you're using the same company name for each, so that they will automatically nest.

If your employer doesn't have a LinkedIn page, suggest they add one. It's very easy and can be a static page, but can draw interest especially for potential hires.

Happy networking!
