Showcase Your Leadership Scope on Résumés and LinkedIn
Just talked with a job search strategy client who had great news. She connected with a recruiter about an open Director-level role, and the recruiter asked her why she wasn't applying to VP roles. 🤩
Why did this happen?
Because we communicated the scope and scale of her leadership on her résumé.
➡ The recruiter understood right away that this client is capable of SO MUCH and brings a ton of value to the table.
Sharing the scope and scale of your role is SO important because it:
1) Immediately grabs the recruiter's attention with numbers.
2) Shares the level of your work - whatever level you're at - it shows that you know where you are.
3) Helps to draw comparisons between the job you're applying for and your experience - the # 1 way to get an interview.
Here are 5 easy ways to share the scope and scale of your role on your résumé and on LinkedIn, to open up new opportunities. 👇
1) Share how many people you've managed in each role. Haven't managed anyone? Share the size of your team. Independent contributor? Share your internal and external partners.
2) Share where you are in the org/dept and your company. Most of us have no idea how your company - even a large one - is structured. Share how close you are to the C-level. Are you one or two levels away? That's important info.
3) Share the budget you manage. Share P&L.
4) Share your years of experience in X industry or Y leadership role.
5) Share your mentoring and coaching. Have you mentored others into leadership roles? Are you known for creating high-performing teams? That speaks to the scale of your role and it's really critical for your résumé and LinkedIn.
💫 Even in this tough and super-slow market, my clients are getting leads, getting responses, and moving on.
